New Deputy Mayor of Whitehaven Elected


Whitehaven Town Council has elected a new Deputy Mayor of Whitehaven.


Julie Rayson who represents Hillcrest ward on Whitehaven Town Council was elected at a virtual council meeting on Zoom tonight, Friday 10th July 2020.


Commenting on her appointment Julie said:

As an Independent councillor and someone who's come from just speaking in 'public participation' at Town Council meetings to where I am now in a relatively short period of time is something I didn't expect.”


“Being proposed and elected as Deputy Mayor, thanks to the support of my fellow councillors who voted for me, shows I must be doing something right. I will fulfill this role to the best of my ability and give my continued commitment to the Town Council.”


Julie was instrumental in ridding The Whitehaven Academy of the Bright Tribe Trust along with the Parents Action Group and MP Trudy Harrison.



She was also named Copeland Person of the year in 2018.
