Copeland Councils ex leader, Elaine Woodburn, has been awarded an M.B.E in the honours. Elaine was the youngest ever leader when she joined aged just 36 and was also the longest serving leader.

Elaine will receive her honour for services to the local government. Elaine was registered as disabled in 2007 when she had her leg amputated. She is now the vice president of Copeland Disibility Forum.

Elaine is credited with bringing the £20 Million Albion Square to the town.
