Mams the word at Cumbrian Gift Shop Little Whimms

Mam’s the Word at Cumbrian Gift Shop, Little Whims

Independent gift shop, Little Whims in Whitehaven is catering for her Cumbrian customers this Mother’s Day, by stocking lots of cards and gifts for ‘Mams’ as well as ‘Mums.’ Little Whims opened in Whitehaven’s Market Place last summer, bringing unique handmade gifts to the town centre, along with beautiful cards, accessories, and homeware.

For Mother’s Day, owner, Lara Schwab wanted to embrace her Northern roots, and offer something suitable to customers who use the term ‘Mam’ and struggle to find lovely cards for their mothers.

Lara comments: “I know from previous years, that there is a real demand for products using the term ‘Mam’ instead of ‘Mum’. Most people in this area use that term, and I thought it would be nice for Mother’s Day if we could offer products that reflect this.” The quirky cards featuring the term ‘Mam’ has so far been a real hit, with customers loving them. One customer commented: “I love these cards. Growing up in Cumbria, I haven’t called my Mam anything other than that, so I’ve always found it strange buying a card for Mother’s Day that said Mum or Mother. So, these are just fab.” As well as the cards, there are also various handmade ‘Mam’ gifts available from the shop including name blocks and vases. Lara makes all the handmade products herself, and caters for many special occasions, including not only Mother’s Day, but also baby gifts, birthday presents and festive products. Her wooden letter blocks are one of her most popular products, and something she is very proud of. The giftware range at Little Whims has been selected specifically to fit in with the handmade items made by Lara, and includes products from East of India, Sass & Belle, The Country Candle Company and the very popular children’s products by Moulin Roty. The shop is open every day apart from Sundays, and full details can be found on the Facebook Page @littlewhimdesigns
