Serious collision closes main Whitehaven road

A5094 New Road and surrounding areas have tonight been closed off to both vehicles and pedestrians following what is believed to be a serious Road Traffic Collison. 

New Road between The Pelican Garage and Tesco have been closed off by numerous police vehicles. Sea View Road and Earls Road on Bransty have also been closed off by around 5 police vehicles. 

A video shared on social media shows over 10 emergency vehicles at the scene of the accident. 

Buses have been diverted away from the scene of the accident. 

Cumbria Police posted on their website “A5094 New Road both ways closed due to accident, two vehicles involved between Bank Road and Bransty Road.”
