Whitehaven man launches watch brand

A West Cumbrian man has launched a brand new watch brand. Rory Wood, 22 is launching his new venture this week. Mr Wood of Arlecdon currently produces music and organises music events across the region including events at Workington’s Electric Soup. The business “Midas Watches” is to be launched this Friday with an event at Whitehaven’s Yellow Earl. The event will see free prosecco, various DJ’s and local singer Adam Amour as well as giving people the chance to have a look at the products. Rory also said “We will be giving away a gold bullion bar. To be in with a chance of winning all you have to do is share the post on our Facebook page. On Friday we will write all the participants names onto confetti and shoot it into the air. We will then get someone to pick a piece of confetti randomly and that person will be the winner” He went on to add “No one in my family has ever launched a business, I have always wanted to run my own so decided to give it a go”. The name Midas comes from Greek Mythology. Everything the Greek King “Midas” touched turned to gold. The first watch to go on sale will be the Poseidon which is the Greek god of the sea. Recently, Rory raised money in memory of his grandad by cycling one mile for every pound he receives in donations, he managed to raised over £900! Rory’s launch party will take place in The Yellow Earl starting at 5PM. All are welcome.
