A group of Sixth Form students from St Benedict’s Catholic High School have recently been selected
to take part in the Centre for Leadership Performances Dream Placement Scheme.
The group of 13 students from St Benedict’s, which is the largest group from any school in Cumbria, will take part in the placement during February half term.
The Dream Placement Scheme brings together the brightest and boldest young students from
Cumbria with some of the most forward-looking and successful businesses in the County. Now in its fifth year, the scheme is available to 16-18 year olds across Cumbria, who have worked their way through a selection process including applications, shortlists and interviews.
Sheena Kar, Director of Learning at the Sixth Form Centre, comments:
“The Dream Placement offers our students a unique opportunity to be able to experience working in some fantastic companies. Students get a lot of the experience including how to network, meeting leaders of these organisations which then helps them in the future.”
“We have the largest number of students selected from any school in Cumbria which is fantastic! I am delighted that so many of our students were successful in gaining a placement after a rigorous selection process. I hope that our students thoroughly enjoy their time on their placements, and I look forward to hearing about it when they return.”
Various businesses will welcome the students over the February half term. The St Benedict’s
students are due to work with a wide variety including, Mott MacDonald, Sellafield, Doosan Babcock and Trudy Harrison MP. Mrs Harrison, said: “I’m thrilled to be welcoming Alana to both my constituency and Westminster office for her Dream Placement next month and look forward to leaning more about her dreams and aspirations.
“Dream Placement is a fantastic initiative allowing young people to gain an insight into some of the most exciting industries operating across Cumbria whilst helping to boost their confidence and leadership skills - I commend the Centre for Leadership Performance for their work to provide these unique opportunities.”
