The Diverse Cumbria Awards are back and bigger than ever before! The 5th year anniversary of the awards is going to be a night not to be missed, with a special live performance from Holly Ellison from The Voice!
Growing year on year this annual awards ceremony is about everyone, and the organisers want to encourage not only professionals to attend, but to invite and bring along the people they are working with too. They are seeking a night where everyone feels safe, supported and celebrated. A night to bring together services users and professionals to cheer on those who have been shortlisted and wait in anticipation for the winners to be announced.
Organiser Ben Vollans said: “I’m so excited for this year’s awards! Even with all the other events I do, this is still the highlight of my year. I still can’t believe it’s been going for 5 years now! But I’ve made this year extra special with a live performance from an amazing singer; Holly Ellison!”
Nominations are open and the organisers are asking people if they know someone deserving of some recognition for their work in equality, diversity and inclusion in Cumbria. Perhaps an organisation or an individual who works really hard and goes above and beyond in their job in making sure everyone is included regardless! Nominations are FREE and can be done via the Diverse Cumbria website. But don’t hesitate, the deadline is 10pm on the 20th March. Ben said: “Nominations from the public are a big part of the awards, we can’t know everything that is going on in the county, so feedback and nominations from you, the public, are vitally important. So please do submit some it doesn’t take long at all!”
This year Ben has added in a few extra awards bringing the total to 9 awards! These categories are: Business Champion, Diversity Event of the Year, Educational Champion, Organisation Champion, Positive Role Model, Positive Young Person, Public Sector Champion, Volunteer Champion and the Lifetime Achievement Award.
