Energy Coast UTC shortlisted for more national teaching awards

Earlier this month Energy Coast UTC received the fantastic news that it was down to the last 5 schools in the country in the categories of national Best Secondary School, national Best Teacher and national Best Headteacher in the Pearson National Teaching Awards. The UTC will find out whether they have won these categories next month.

Today the UTC has found out that some of their staff have been shortlisted for even more national awards! Selected from tens of thousands of nominations, English teacher Hope Redmond has been shortlisted for the Times Educational Supplement (TES) Schools Award for Best New Teacher nationally and English teacher and Vice Principal, Kerryann Wilson has been shortlisted for Times Educational Supplement (TES) Schools Award for Best Teacher nationally. They will find out whether they have won their categories in an online ceremony on Friday 13th November.

Principal Cherry Tingle said “I am absolutely delighted that the superb teaching and learning which Hope and Kerryann carry out every day at the UTC has been formally recognised in this way. Both these teachers, like others at the UTC, are truly inspirational in the way they work with young people to ensure every student reaches their potential. Nothing is too much trouble for these teachers as they put the learning needs of students first, second and third every single day. They deserve this recognition and I would like to give my huge congratulations to both of them”
