Gosforth Coffee Morning Raises Over £500 for VE celebrations next year.


On Saturday 9th November local residents, councillors and volunteers gathered for a morning of cake, coffee and chat.


The Saturday morning was raising funds specifically for the ‘Picnic In The Park’ taking place on VE weekend in early May next year, the weekend is set to see the ‘Picnic In The Park’ style family event on the Friday with local groups and charities getting involved such as GADS, Mountain Rescue, Moky Fit and many others and then on the Saturday the plan is to hold an evening of entertainment.


The coffee morning took place in Gosforth Library, and over 60 people gathered across the morning to enjoy a cuppa and some cake, £530.25 was raised in total which will go towards the expenditure of next year’s events, the organising team behind the event are hoping to host another coffee morning early next year.


Rachel Unsworth, one of the organisers said, “The support of our coffee morning was positive, and we look forward to putting on a fantastic VE day next year.”



The morning had seen local councillors Paul Turner and Andy Pratt come for a catch up with everyone and also Trudy Harrison former MP and current conservative candidate come to chat with the residents.



The organising team are also pleased to acknowledge support from The Wild Olive, Floor Coverings West Cumbria, Gosforth Hall, Gosforth Bakery, Denton House Café, Simply Fresh, Beckplace Services, Vanity Case and Robinson & Co for donating prizes for the raffle.
