Thousands flocked to Bitts Park last weekend for the fantastic Jess Glynne Concert.
It truly was a Party in the Park in Carlisle on Saturday as chart sensation Jess Glynne
brought the final leg of her 2019 UK summer tour to Bitts Park, much to the delight of over
10,000 fans who turned out in force for what was an unforgettable night in the city.
The star was delighted to bring her catalogue of hits to the stage, clearly enjoying a return to Carlisle since her last performance here in 2017. Fans were equally delighted to finally welcome the star, whose previously scheduled concert date in August had been postponed due to her ill health.
Before the main event, DJ Ryan Arnold soon warmed up the crowds for the party ahead.
It was then turn for Australian sister band Germein who delighted the crowds with their
unique brand of indie pop rock songs and signature harmonies.
Singer songwriter John Newman brought some of the biggest dance anthems in the
charts to Bitts Park with his distinctive voice roaring with love and enthusiasm with hit
after hit.
And then for the main event...
The audience went wild when headliner Jess Glynne took to the stage, bringing her
medley of anthems with her usual powerhouse vocals and electric stage presence. The
performance was nothing short of amazing with the star clearly enjoying the response
from the crowds and showing fans her love. Fresh from supporting the Spice Girls, and
her own summer tour, the London born superstar proved not only is she a talented vocalist with the most distinctive voice, but a world class performer, and Bitts Park were truly treated to a music masterclass.
Liz Doogan-Hobbs MBE, CEO of Liz Hobbs Group, promoters of the Carlisle
concert commented: "We’re thrilled with the success of the concert in Carlisle. The
region responded brilliantly, it is a terrific venue, and it was certainly clear that Jess has
a lot of fans around here! The atmosphere was incredible. A huge thank you to everyone
who attended.
The Carlisle City Council team have all been great to work with and we’re delighted to
have delivered such a well-received concert here at Bitts Park, a highlight of the summer. We hope to continue to develop a longer-term relationship for 2020 and onwards to bring first class gigs to the region.”
