Small independent highstreet businesses re-open across Copeland


The Whitehaven, Egremont, Millom and Cleator Moor high streets have returned, with florists, clothing shops, card shops and takeaways all making a safe return.


Yesterday (15 June) seen retail shops across the country open for the first time in over 12 weeks.


Although food shops, pharmacies, banks and other essential retailers have stayed open, the majority of the High Street shops have not, from bookshops and clothes outlets, have been closed since 23 March.


Tens of thousands of Britons flocked to their towns and cities, with queues for the big-name brands running the length of streets.
