Whitehaven Alive will return for 2023!

Promoters behind Whitehaven Alive announce its return for 2023

One of the county’s newest festivals has announced that it will return in 2023.

Whitehaven Alive is returning next year after holding its inaugural event back in September.

More than 6,000 people attended Whitehaven Alive in 2022 with Scouting For Girls, Chris Moyles and

Porsche all playing a part in the first year’s programme.

Promoters Alive Entertainment Group said they couldn’t have predicted the support the event received this year, Oliver Hodgson co-founder and Creative Director said: “2022 exceeded expectations in many ways; sell-out attendance figures, fantastic buy-in from both vendors and the supply chain as well as the backing of some fantastic well-known consumer brands.

“We can’t thank the community and supply chain enough for backing the first event and getting right

behind our vision.

“As we head towards 2023, we’re thrilled to be developing the creative piece on the harbour whilst adding to an exciting programme of activations and incredible artists that will certainly be enjoyed by all. As a team, we’re in full swing planning for next year, including trips to the capital to engage and enter conversations with exciting brands and entertainment partners.

“Whitehaven Alive is a new and exciting festival platform for Cumbria. We look forward to working with a wide variety of brands and businesses who are keen to get amongst the atmosphere and come onboard with us.”

The 2023 festival will be across a three-day weekend on Whitehaven Harbour in September from the 8th-10th.

The event will include headline evening concerts, a food and drink market, a lifestyle and food stage, brand activations, a fair and family activities.

Liz Cannon, executive director at Alive Entertainment Group added: “After a great first year, 2023 really is going to be something else, it’s already shaping up to be a fantastic weekend and something I believe Whitehaven has been missing over the last few years - something to bring the town together.

“Incredibly excited to grow and make 2023 bigger and better than before, watch this space!”

Chief Executive of Whitehaven Harbour Commissioners, John Baker said: “To see so many people and so many happy faces around town and down at the Harbour for the inaugural Whitehaven Alive this year was a real thrill. Having brought so many people to Whitehaven to celebrate together the event was a big boost to the town and has created a fantastic platform to build on in the future.

“It is very exciting therefore to see that Whitehaven Alive is indeed set to return in 2023 with the promise of delivering an even bigger and better event for the communities of Whitehaven and Cumbria. I cannot wait for the full programme to be unveiled in due course!”
